We don’t exactly have very many choices: we can fight it, be hurt by it, learn from it, drown in it, suffer with it, attempt to escape from it… though in all reality, whatever we do with the pain around us, one thing is for certain. Everyone has pain. Everyone feels pain. Everyone bears pain. Everyone suffers. This universal truth seems to be the plague of us all. It is no wonder that since the beginning of time, strife has been sometime people have been fighting again. Countless things can hurt us, can burden us, can cause us pain. Innocence is like the candy coating around sweet poision.
This idea follows the assumption that life itself is sad, bitter, harmful, hurtful, even fatal i.e. poision. Innocence therefore found in youth, inexperience, is merely a cover, an improper shield against life's harshness.
Once again, I repeat. This IS the Pessimistic point of view.
